A Glad Time in Turks & Caicos
Hi! It’s Jennifer again from Travel Like a Prince. Recently I guest blogged about my trip to Nicaragua, and today I’m here to chat about my time in Turks & Caicos. I adore travel! Whether it’s for philanthropy, exploration, or just to relax and unwind, wandering the globe is one of my favorite things. And when I go, I’m sure to take pieces from Gladiola Girls with me. I always feel fabulous when I wear them!
When I went to the Caribbean, we spent 3 days on a small, remote island and then headed to The Alexandra Resort for 2 days. It’s my time at the latter that I’d love to share with you. It was a fabulous few days filled with new friends, pristine beaches, and clear water. Here goes!
Look #1 – charter jet to Providenciales
Our days at the private resort were concluded with a chartered flight. So fun! I knew that both fashion and comfort were in order, so I chose a pair of my favorite skinny jeans in gray by Level 99. They are stretchy, which helps in the confines of a small aircraft. I paired them with a tried-and-true shirt that was already in my wardrobe.
The sandals by Spring Step are one of my recent purchases from Gladiola. I wore them for the first time on my trip, and they were amazing – I didn’t even have to break them in. Plus, the color is versatile. The sunglasses were also a quick pick up (hello, $15!). You will see me wearing both the sandals and glasses a bunch!
Look #2 – biking around town
As soon as our feet hit the ground, I wanted to explore! Our resort has 3 locations (the 4th will open soon and is on the private island) and all together they are the Turks & Caicos Collection. One of the perks is that they offer bikes. We had to navigate riding on the opposite side of the road and getting to the downtown, but we had a lot of fun!
My Velvet Heart shirt coordinates with just about anything, and I wore it tied at the bottom. It can also be worn tucked, untucked, or unbuttoned with a cute tank underneath. The Level 99 shorts were the first pair of shorts I ever purchased from Gladiola, and I have no regrets. Oh, and there are those glasses and sandals again!
Look #3 – dinner at Blue Haven
Our resort collection lets you dine at their other locations, so we headed to Blue Haven for dinner. I wanted to stay cool while also feeling fab, and this dress by FRNCH was the way to go. It has pockets…need I say more? The top band is secured with a strip of non-slip material, which gives confidence that everything will stay put.
I have had this dress for a while, and this time I paired it with a cute belt. I purchased the earrings from a local ceramic artisan when we went biking earlier in the town. The necklace is a souvenir my husband bought for me when we went to Athens, Greece. I love picking up either artisan jewelry when we travel! My L’Artiste sandals made an appearance in my Nicaragua post, but they are a go-to pair. The low heel is stable and easy to walk in while giving a bit of height.
Look #4 – heading to the beach
I know, I know! You want to see the water, right? I do have to say that the beach at the resort was one of the most beautiful I’ve seen. The water was crystal clear, and the hue was so aqua – like a fairy tale.
I normally wear a top as a cover up, but I decided to wear my Effie’s Heart skirt instead. It packs well, and it has a bit of a high waist to cover up the area I am most conscious about after having 3 kids. The hat is one of my favorite purchases from Gladiola, and…there are those sunglasses and sandals again. I literally felt SO fashionable in this outfit, and it will make appearances on future vacations for sure!
Look #5 – dinner at Beach House
Sadly, everything must come to an end. So on our last night, we decided to try out another resort restaurant at Beach House. This Johnny Was dress has been in my collection for a while, but it is still one of my favorites. I adore the way it flows. It is also lightweight and great for keeping cool.
I paired it with adorable denim wedges by Minnetonka, sunglasses, and a diamond necklace that my mom gave me. Funny story about the necklace – my dad found a lone earring at the bottom of a pool and had it made into a necklace for my mom. I remember her wearing it when I was growing up, and she gave it to me. I adore heirlooms!
